An Update for Zone Six

Good evening Zone Six!  Please see for just a few updates on successes that we have had with our enhanced enforcement initiatives.

10/07 – In Little Five Points, 3 suspects snatched property from the victim’s hands and from their immediate presence inside two businesses, Aurora Coffee and Starbucks Coffee.  Units working the area for crime suppression quickly responded and located the suspects.  A quick investigation led to the recovery of the victim’s property.  Based on a judicial order, two of the three were arrested and formally charged with robbery by sudden snatch and theft by taking.

10/08 – Units assigned to the neighborhoods of Poncey-Highlands and Virginia Highland responded to investigate a call where a suspect approached the victim, gestured that he had a gun and demanded that the victim exit his vehicle.  As units quickly responded and approached, a foot pursuit ensued but police officers were able to apprehend the suspect in the rear of the Dugan’s Tavern.  The suspect was charged with armed robbery and transported to the Fulton County Jail.

10/10 – In the Grant Park neighborhood, a victim called to report that his vehicle had been broken into.  Responding police units immediately started their investigation which quickly led them to the area of the Old Fourth Ward community, which is approximately one mile away.  At that location, units were able to stop two males who had possession of the stolen electronics.  As a result, the two male suspects were arrested and charged with entering an auto and theft by taking.  The electronics were returned to the owners.  It should be noted that both suspects did have a prior history of breaking into cars.  This was a great catch for the community.

While criminals are out looking for crime opportunities, police are out looking for criminals.  Instead of challenging the suspects, we are thankful that citizens were quick to call 911 immediately upon noticing what they believed to be criminal activity.  This is the kind of partnership that will ultimately help make the Zone Six community and the City of Atlanta a safer place.

Sincerely,
