Officer Joseph Rickman hails from the small town of Danielsville, GA where he attended Madison County High School. He has been in law enforcement for 17 years and currently serves with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office. In addition, he has served with the Fulton County Office of the County Attorney as well as the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office, and the State of Georgia.
He has been with the Virginia-Highland Security Patrol for
just one year and jokes that the best thing about being a police officer is
that it is recession proof. He also shared that, had he not gone into law enforcement,
he might have liked to be a pilot – another job that is currently in very high
demand. Rickman is married with a seven-year-old son, so he is quite busy when
not working full time for FCDA or part time for VHSP.
We asked if he had a safety tip for members and he suggested
that we “be very careful about walking/running late night or early morning. I
often see members of the neighborhood alone in dimly lit areas at between
midnight and 4:00 am”. If you are one of those folks out in the wee hours and
you see Officer Rickman, please give him a wave or thank him for keeping us
safe.
